Riley’s Farm Reflection
What we did at Riley’s Farm was that they taught us manners that were used back then. The gentlemen would take off their hats and sort of bow down like halfway and say “G’day las”. The women would put their right foot in front of their left foot and get their dress and stretch it out a little and bow down halfway too, and would say “G’day lads”. There was a woman, and she told us when she ate her piece of bread and drank her glass of water that to stop her and tell her what’s wrong with her eating and drinking.
One of the things that my classmates said was that when she ate her bread she’d had to share because “Sharing is caring.” And she was like yes sorry about that. When she drank her water she was about to drink out of the whole water jug and another classmate said “Don’t drink out of it because what if someone wants some water they would not want all your germs/saliva on the water jug.”As soon as they said that she stopped and poured it in the glass she had out the table.
We also played with hula-hoops and that was something similar to baseball where you’d step on a piece of wood and it would throw the ball in the air. You would hit it with another piece of wood when it went in the air. Whoever caught the ball first would be there turn to hit the ball. We also played with a small hoop and threw it around and see who would catch it with two sticks that were shaped as drum sticks. We ate after that everyone was so hungry because it WAS a long day.
After we learned, played, and ate the people who worked there gathered all the schools and went against each other. We all got sticks (pretending to be guns) and went against the schools and I think we won because Casita is the best. Anyway we had fun and our leader was funny and cool (also loud!!!) but he was nice he’d yell BOOM because that’s when we’d fire our sticks/guns. There was a soldier and he gave a long speech about what happened back then and the speech was really thoughtful for me, I like it a lot.

Journal Entry #2
Please title this section: "Journal Entry #2: Leading up to and During the Struggle for Change" In this section, use your notes from Part C of your research to write a FIRST PERSON journal entry about "your" role in making a change to your government or society. How were you influential? What did you do? How did you affect others during this important time in history? This journal entry must be at least 2 paragraphs long.
Entry #2: Leading up to and During the Struggle for Change
I wanted to make a change for women rights. I am influential because I made a change for women’s rights and was a secretary the New Deal. The New Deal was series of games and laws were made there and important things happened during the New Deal. What I did was being a secretary for the New Deal and helping president Theodore Roosevelt make laws.
My actions were meaningful because I wanted women to know that they can do anything men can do. And I did it, I actually affected women because I made them do things that men do and to prove that us women are strong and free to do whatever we want to do.

Journal Entry #3
Please title this section: "Journal Entry #3: After the Movement and Interesting Facts". In this section, use our notes from Part D to write a FIRST PERSON journal entry about "your" life, jobs, and accomplishments after the movement, as well as your death, and any additional interesting facts about "yourself". This journal entry must be at least 1 or 2 paragraphs long.
Entry #3: After the Movement and Interesting Facts
In 1911 I was having a cup of tea with my friends, and firetrucks went by really fast, I rushed to the scene. And witnessed people at the building jumping off the burning building. About one hundred and fifty people died in the factory. Women, men, and children were trapped in the ten story building. Some people died because they couldn’t breath of the smoke. Some also died because they jumped off the building and thought that the firefighters would catch them with their big nets. They landed very hard on the ground below and died.
Most of the workers that worked in the factory were women. They soon discovered that the fire was caused by a man that was smoking and through the cigarette bud in the trash can and that was breaking rules because the factory didn’t allow smoking.
And after I retired I died a while after because of a stroke, and I was buried next to my husband in Newcastle Maine.
